Catalan theater artist and puppeteer Xavier Bobés is passionate about the poetics of objects. He delves into the search for the symbolic and theatrical content of objects and everything that is apparently banal, creating, testing and teaching. Xavier considers himself to be self-taught and encourages others to learn by researching a variety of everyday objects and collaborating with others.

Following the debut of Things Easily Forgotten in Spain in 2015, Xavier was soon awarded the esteemed Premis Butaca de teatre de Catalunya (Butaca Theater Awards of Catalonia, aka “Butaca Award”). The Butaca Awards are annual theater awards judged by popular vote in Catalonia to reward those who have made valuable contributions to Catalan theater and act as a testament to the importance of his work.

That same year, Things Easily Forgotten was also awarded the Barcelona Critics’ Award 2015 for the best New Tendencias (New Trends) theater production and Best In Show at the International Festival “Be Festival 2016” Birmingham, England.

Xavier is deeply committed to encouraging his students to take time to immerse themselves in exploration of objects and personal history. Things Easily Forgotten is a resonant example of this approach as he explores Spain’s Francoist history and subsequent transition to a democracy as expressed in Things Easily Forgotten.
